Self-Esteem

Autistic and ADHD clients will learn to identify negative thought patterns that can cause self-esteem difficulties using CBT. An adolescent with reduced self-esteem can be at more risk in developing low mood and depression. Clients can explore self-awareness about their own abilities through psychoeducation. Therapy will provide a safe space in order to explore issues around identity, sexuality, gender, culture, appearance, and explore their sense of who they are.

An exploration on abilities is focused in on to increase self-worth and identification of strengths and weaknesses can help to develop a definition of self. Learn how to use positive and encouraging self-talk to counteract negative thought patterns. These can be helpful when life transitions are happening socially, physically and emotionally. Self-esteem can have an effect on autistic and ADHD individuals.
